Prey for the Wicked

The Heroic Story About the Depth of a Mother's Love

Set in the 80’s, in fictional Atlas, North Carolina: Janeen Cooper, a young woman from Down-the-Hill, the impoverished side of town, struggles to cope with the recent loss of her mother and being forced to leave college. Reluctantly, she moves in with her sinister Aunt May and her autistic son, Houston, despite being warned to stay away from Atlas. Amidst the town’s tight-knit community and powerful figures, Janeen finds herself in a passionate affair with Adam Sinclair, the influential chief deputy. When Janeen becomes pregnant, Adam insists she terminate the pregnancy. Defying him, Janeen keeps the baby, a decision that sets off a chain of tragic events.

Set against the backdrop of Southern charm and simmering tensions, Prey for the Wicked, explores themes of social injustice, the lengths people will go to protect their secrets, and a mother’s unyielding love for her child. Janeen’s journey is a testament to resilience and the relentless pursuit of truth in the face of manipulation, fractured love, and the pervasive influence of wealth and power in a town where secrets have deep roots and consequences are never far behind.
